A Little About Me

Fun Facts
Origins: The North Pole

In reality, I was born at an army hospital just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska, but my birth certificate could have said that I was born in North Pole, Alaska, so I'm basically one of Santa's elves.

Accidentally got within 15 feet of a tornado

Not the safest thing to do, I know, but it isn't my fault. I was probably around seven years old, and the twister touched down in my backyard. Thankfully, there were no injuries, but my treehouse grew a new telephone pole through one of the walls.

Shipwrecked

Well... this is kind of true. I did tip over a canoe with a couple of my friends, and we did lose sight of our family members upstream. The canoe was tipped all the way over, and caught on an overhanging tree branch so there was no tipping it back over. We were stranded. Like any group of boys at the time, we had been preparing for this exact moment for our entire boyhoods. Pocketknives, fires, and an incident with a slug ensued.

For Olivet High School, I was a nose-tackle, which was my favorite position

Like: Spicy Food

Although I'm not as good at keeping it down as my father is, I'm a big fan of spicy foods- especially chicken wings! Other foods I especially enjoy include shrimp, fresh fruit, and apple cobbler!

Dislike: Spiders

As conniving in folklore as they are in real life, these eight-legged monsters have struck fear into the hearts of sane human beings for millennia. If you ever want to see a 215 pound man break out into a cold sweat over something the size of a thimble, a spider is your best bet.

Like: Football

I like to think I was born with shoulder-pads strapped on. I played tackle football all the way from second grade to twelfth, and if I had it all to do over again, I'd play for ten more years. The clash of pads is an electrifying sound to me- passionate and pure. This is one of the many reasons Fall is my favorite season.

Dislike: Dancing

This is definitely a dislike based in fact and reason. The fact is- I can't dance to save my life, and the reason is that I always end up looking like an upright man having an epileptic seizure.

Like: The Great Outdoors

This is a beautiful place- earth. I've always been a huge fan of nature hikes, of seeing beaches and mountains and streams. Almost as much as I love to read about the adventures of men who dare to venture into the unknown, I love to hike my boots up and take the road less travelled.
